Grand Opening provides sneak peek to multiple VIPs.

On November 2, nearly 200 people got their first inside-look at our new, state-of-the-art Sugar Storage and Transfer Facility. The crowd included multiple VIPs, including United Sugars' customers, officials from the city of Montgomery and media representatives. Behind-the-scenes tours, a cocktail reception and a ribbon-cutting ceremony were among the highlights. Spirits were high as the facility is on track to begin storing sugar in January 2017.

Dome Inflation

The dome is up, and big, and beautiful.

The landscape has certainly changed at our new sugar storage facility. Capitalizing on the right weather conditions (winds less that 5 mph for at least 2 hours), our high-tech builders were able to inflate the material to shape our 134-foot high bulk storage dome. After successfully inflating the dome, builders began the process of finishing the structure with a fast-drying concrete substance, making the dome highly protective, durable and permanent. The facility is set to begin operation later this year.
