Formed in 1994, United Sugars Corporation is a marketing cooperative currently supplying approximately one-quarter of the total U.S. sugar demand. Our fully integrated business structure of pooled members makes us a uniquely capable sugar resource, providing sugar for almost any use, industrial or retail. If you need sugar, you won’t find a more reliable or proficient partner.

American Crystal Sugar Company has its corporate headquarters and research center in Moorhead, Minnesota. American Crystal is the largest beet sugar manufacturer in the United States, with factories throughout the Red River Valley. American Crystal is owned by approximately 2,600 shareholders and employs close to 1,500 people full-time, and an additional 650 seasonal workers.

Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative has its office and beet processing factory in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Minn-Dak is owned by approximately 500 shareholders and employs 450 people.

United States Sugar

U.S. Sugar is based in Clewiston, Florida. Founded in 1931, U.S. Sugar is Florida’s largest grower of sugar cane, farming approximately 200,000 acres in South-Central Florida and producing more than 800,000 tons of raw sugar per year. U.S. Sugar’s largest owner is its 2,500 employees through an Employee Stock ownership plan where employees are granted shares on a recurring basis. The next largest shareholders are a variety of charities established by the Company’s founder and his descendants. The remaining minority interests are held by his decedents.

In 2018, Wyoming Sugar Company joined the United Sugars family. Wyoming Sugar operates one beet sugar factory located in Worland, Wyoming. Wyoming Sugar has 42 members and employs 147 full-time employees.

Codes of conduct

Each of our co-op partners maintains a strict Code of Conduct that lays out requirements and expectations for employees, officers, and directors. With guidance on issues ranging from conflicts of interest to grievance mechanisms, and additional support from human resource and the general counsel’s office, every employee is empowered to make ethical decisions.
